2010 workshops in Peru
DorisLoayza is a Peruvian-born, New York-based community psychologistwholeads art therapy workshops for children (complete bio below).

Doris has been invited to return to Peru in May 2010 to conduct workshops for two institutions:

1. Public school in Llamellin, Ancash
2. Manos Unidas, a Cusco NGO serving children w/disabilities

The goal of this campaign is $2,500 to fund this work.

Donations will pay for transportation, arts supplies, books, student scholarships, and a modest stipend.

Any amount gratefully appreciated, and all donors will be kept updated with reports and photos/video. Thank you!

Bio for Doris Loayza

Doris is a community psychologist and aspiring expressive arts therapist. She leads workshops for children that use art,storytelling, movement and nature to promote learning and community.

Born in Llamellin in the Peruvian Andes, Doris earned a B.S. in Community Psychology from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. She worked for NGOs helping families in the Andes, Amazon and coast. Returning to Lima, she earned a certificate in Art Therapy from the Escuela de Terapia Artistica.

In 2007 she moved to New York City. She studied English at the City University of New York and joined Abya Yala, a Peruvian cultural/education organization.

In 2008 and 2009, Doris returned to Llamellin to offer volunteer arts education workshops. She is planning to return annually, and envisions starting the first arts therapy instiute in the region.

In 2010, she plans to begin a Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy.

Doris's hobbies include Peruvian dance, photography, and storytelling.
